5 Reasons for Why donate to Baptism Church
This is the Location of Jesus Christ’s Baptism.
Bethany Beyond the Jordan is the location of one of the most significant events in Christianity. Today Christians all around the world mark their faith and belief by mirroring what happened at Bethany two millennia ago, when John baptized Jesus. "I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not know, the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal. This took place in Bethany across the Jordan where John was baptizing, "(John 1: 19, 23, 26.28)
There is no Catholic Church on the Site of Jesus Christ’s Baptism!
Your contribution will help to establish the first Roman Catholic church at the Baptism Site, one of the holiest sites in Christianity. The Church of the Baptism of Jesus Christ at Bethany will be a principal and thriving spiritual haven for Christian pilgrims, and is a historic and spiritually important addition to the other famous churches in the locations of the most important milestones in Jesus’ life (such as the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth) and where continuous prayer and service will be conducted by the monastic order.
This Holy Trinity first appeared here, before spreading across the world.
It is also here, in this precise location, where, according to the bible, the Holy Trinity was made whole for the first time…
The Father – Here, the Father’s voice proclaimed, from heaven, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Mathew 3:17)
The Son – Jesus Christ, baptized on this site.
The Holy Spirit – which appeared in the form of a dove, “and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him…” Mathew 3:16
A Loving Testament to the Warm and Peaceful Interfaith Relations Between Christians and Muslims.
The Church of the Baptism will also stand as testament to the warm and peaceful relations between Christians and Muslims in Jordan, as well as in the world. Jordan today is a Muslim country where people of all faiths have lived peacefully together, and have coexisted in love and harmony for centuries. The country’s Hashemite monarchy is directly descended from the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and His Majesty King Abdullah II, who currently sits on Jordan’s throne, has supported, encouraged, and blessed the development of the Church of the Baptism.
In 2009 His Majesty accompanied His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on a visit to the Baptism site and extended an invitation to His Holiness to lay the cornerstone for the new church (please see media center for pictures of the event), further solidifying this message of love and brotherhood between the Christian and Muslim faiths. The Hashemite family has always advocated inter-faith dialogue and peaceful coexistence and relations amongst all.
